Creative Development Publisher
I confess that I never intended to work in publishing. I had trained and began a career as a primary teacher. I have always had a creative streak and in 1985 I bought a knitting machine, taught myself how to use it and saw an ad paying designers £25 for original designs. I instantly became a designer overnight. In 1992 I found myself at a crossroads and made what I consider to be one of the best decisions of my life. I persuaded the publisher, Litharne near Stratford, to launch and make me Editor of a brand new magazine, Needlework. It’s true to say that I have never looked back. My publishing career has seen me as Editor on numerous craft titles, working at Future and I joined Origin in the early days in 1997. Here in Bristol, I have been the creative force behind no less than 18 new craft launches, all the Origin craft websites, some seriously crafty videos and I have also appeared on radio and tv. I am currently Publisher of Knit Today and a string of specials. I feel incredibly lucky to work with such a great bunch of creative and inspirational people. Long may that continue!
