Immediate Media Co has relaunched Cloth, its innovative fashion and craft magazine, following a six-month redesign process.
Catering to the huge growth in interest in upcycling, thrifting, vintage clothing and sewing, the new-look Cloth is packed with on-trend projects and ideas. Each issue includes patterns and designs created exclusively for the magazine, along with fashion fixes, the latest style news, product reviews, hand illustrated step-by-step guides and inspiration from independent shops, boutiques and bloggers. With the new strapline, “Make it your own”, Cloth appeals to both beginners and more experienced seamstresses, whether they are looking to update key items in their wardrobe or create a whole new look.
The title, acquired by Immediate Media Co in July 2012, has undergone a comprehensive cover-to-cover revamp and features a whole host of new content, sections and modern new fonts. Previously a quarterly magazine, Cloth is now published 13 times per year in a larger format and has been upsized by 16 pages.
Editor, Cathy McKinnon, says: “We’re very excited to bring Cloth to the market. With a dynamic new look and a strong focus on fashion trends, interesting features and lovely projects, we believe it’s like nothing else on the newsstand right now. We’ve loved putting together the new look and we’ve already received a fantastic response from the sewing industry and crafting community.”
Issue 14 of Cloth, on sale now priced at £4.99, features 21 winter wardrobe sew-it-yourself makes, a step-by-step guide to customising a military jacket and a pull-out pattern for a faux fur stole. Plus there are ideas for the home including tips on how to decorate rooms with vintage decals, and designs for stylish couch cushions and hot water bottle covers.
Every issue readers will also have the chance to go behind-the-scenes at the magazine with Cloth’s very own YouTube channel, with sneak previews of projects and a glimpse backstage at photo shoots. Issue 14 of Cloth comes with a free vintage paper doll and cut-out outfits that showcase the key looks of the season. To see the doll come to life in an exclusive animation, and for all other Cloth videos, visit www.youtube.com/clothmagazine.
