An exciting opportunity has arisen for a middleweight back end developer to join the technical operations working on our publishing, community and commerce platforms. Reporting directly to the Web Operations Manager, the likely candidate will be passionate about .NET development and enjoy working within a team environment, passion to drive and motivate by example, have a proven ability to learn new skills and meet tight deadlines.

About the role:
Candidates will be required to command good communication skills, work well within a team structure, and have a proven ability to learn new skills. You will have excellent skills in ASP.net(C#), SQL, HTML and JavaScript.

Key responsibilities:
• Develop websites, applications and rich multi-media experiences according to the brief and technical specifications. Work closely with front end developers to integrate the UI according to departmental standards and processes
• Ensure all developments meet high level design requirements e.g. data, customer experience, architecture, security, quality & operations, as well as regulatory and industry standards so projects are fit for purpose leaving testing & transitioning to live
• Ensure all new developments go through an appropriate testing process and work with QA to create test plans
• Accurately report on development progress and issues, identifying remedial action when required to address problems and keep development on track
• Proactively keep abreast of industry developments, skills and technologies and share information, ideas and best practice with other design team members and divisions to improve skills and avoid single points of failure
• Create and maintain strong working relationships with other members of the delivery team and the wider technology organisation so that the overall function operates professionally and is seen as delivery focused. Engage professionally with customers when required
• Provide input into platform design, offering advice and thoughts and providing feedback
• Estimate the time and materials required to complete each project or task
• Demonstrate a logical and structured approach to time management and task prioritisation. Work within project timelines and budgets
• Work independently and/or within a team as the work requires. Participate in team activities and team planning with the aim of improving team skills, awareness and quality of work.

• Previous development experience working on a CMS product or community platform
• Experience with ASP.net MVC
